VLF testing is a technique using a sinusoidal waveform at very low frequency (0.01 – 0.1 Hz) to test medium voltage cables. The advantage of VLF is the 600x lower power requirement, which allows for a significant reduction in size of the equipment necessary to conduct the testing.
The BAUR VLF tester can be used for conducting tests on cables, cable sheaths, and electrical equipment according to the latest IEEE and IEC standards. All testers are fitted with the patented truesinus® voltage generation technology, which allows for no distortion and provides a precise basis for significant and reproducible results. Cable testing can also be conducted with VLF square wave or DC voltages.
VLF cable testing can be expanded to include tan delta and partial discharge diagnostics!
