EMC Partner

The new CDN line from EMC PARTNER represents another ground-breaking advance in EMC technology. With standard EUT voltage 3 x 690V AC, 500 V DC and options up to 1500 V DC, the new CDN line is an important step in the future of EMC testing. The new CDN line offers impulse test levels up to max. 7.6 kV (Surge and Ring wave) and up to max. 7.1 kV EFT with an IMU3000 or IMU-MGE generator and coupling path indication on automatic models with latest multicolor LED technology. Connectors for all CDNs (EUT and supply side) are already included in delivery.

The latest CDN models offer the highest test levels combined with the highest EUT voltages available in the market, allowing precise tailoring of options to meet both technical requirements and budget. A Full Range option enables only one CDN to meet all waveform requirements for EUT current from 0 A to max. chosen, as required in IEC61000-4-5 Ed. 3. For specific applications, EMC PARTNER AG offers also optional 40 Ω / 0.5 µF network (6 kV and 8 kV versions) for railway apparatus testing as per EN 50121 and optional diode-resistor modules as per AMD 1 of IEC61000-4-5 Ed. 3. Testing inverters, DC-DC converters, EVs and charging stations or other renewable energy systems has just become much easier. All options can be ordered with a new CDN or as upgrades after purchase.

Data Line Coupling Decoupling Networks (CDNs)

Unshielded Unsymmetrical Data Lines

Unshielded unsymmetrical data lines are generally used for analog communication signals and low frequency digital signals. Such data lines are tested according to IEC 61000-4-5 Ed.3 Figure 9 on both line-to-line and line-to-ground coupling paths.

There are 3 solutions available from EMC Partner for such data lines: CDN-KIT1000 ED3 (max. 2 lines), CDN-DATA-4L (max. 4 lines) and CDN-DATA-8L (max. 8 lines).

CDN-DATA-4L and CDN-DATA-8L are easy to use and versatile coupling decoupling networks for unsymmetrical unshielded lines.  These CDN are used to induce up to 6kV Combination Wave Surge (IEC 61000-4-5) and 6kV Ring Wave (IEC 61000-4-12) disturbances on devices with up to 8 data lines (4 pair).  Both CDN-DATA-4L and CDN-DATA-8L can be used with the IMU Series of transient generators to meet test requirements per IEC 61000-4-5 Ed.3 Figure 9.

Unshielded Unsymmetrical Data Lines

Unshielded symmetrical data lines are generally used for high speed communication signals (Ethernet lines up to 1Gbps, USB, CAN bus, RS-485 etc.). Such data lines are tested according to IEC 61000-4-5 Ed.3 Figure 10 or Figure 11 coupling all lines to PE.

There are 2 solutions available from EMC Partner for high speed lines: CDN-UTP ED3 (max. 4 lines) and CDN-UTP8 ED3 (max. 8 lines). These CDNs are used to induce up to 6kV Combination Wave Surge (IEC 61000-4-5), 6kV Telecom wave surge (10/700us) and 6kV Ring Wave (IEC 61000-4-12) disturbances on devices with up to 8 data lines (4 pair). In addition to this, up to 4 unsymmetrical lines can be tested making the CDN-UTP8 ED3 incredibly versatile. The CDNs are designed for high speed Ethernet testing applications up to 1 gigabit speeds. RJ45 adapter boxes are provided for convenient connection between the device under test and auxiliary equipment to the CDN. Both CDN-UTP ED3 and CDN-UTP8 ED3 can be used with the IMU Series of transient generators to meet test requirements per IEC 61000-4-5 Ed.3 Figure 10 and 11.

Shielded Symmetrical and Unsymmetrical Data Lines

Shielded symmetrical and unsymmetrical data lines do not require a CDN for testing. These data line are tested according to IEC 61000-4-5 Ed.3 Figure 12. Both IMU-MGS or IMU-MGE generators can be used to apply the Combination Wave Surge (IEC 61000-4-5) disturbances directly on to the shield, as shown below:
