Position Overview:

The Sales Engineer/Manager for HV Test Equipment will oversee and manage, as an active member of HV TECHNOLOGIES, Inc. (HVT)’s management team, activities and resources for the sales department. This department sells and markets all our test equipment from our European principals. Special focus in the development of the BAUR line is required. This position also coordinates the quotes from our service department for on-site testing, calibrations and diagnostics, in house calibrations, warranty services, and training for all HV products that HVT sells. The position manages the daily marketing and sales activities and provides sales representatives and customers with solutions for their HV testing needs. This position also plays a vital role in communicating with our European principals and providing applications and marketing feedback to them.

As part of the team the sales manager will also be available for demos in response to HVT’s customer requests. For the person that likes to travel and work autonomously, this is an opportunity to see virtually every part of North America and to meet a wide variety of people. Regular visits and training at our European suppliers in Switzerland, Austria and Germany are also part of this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage territorial accounts totaling approx $2 m including several hundred different customers.
  • Manage all HV sales and marketing activities in the territory.
  • Identify and implement proactive marketing actions and events to increase sales in HV products and services.
  • Identify and manage the addition of new commissioned agents in prospective sales territories.
  • Coordinated efforts between customer’s and principal’s engineers to customize HV testing solutions.
  • Travel to customer locations and collaborate with design teams and principals about new product developments.
  • Conduct company presentations, highlighting core values and competencies to potential customers.
  • Generate price quotes based on import costs, market pricing and competitive availability.
  • Prepare sales forecast and reports based on market trends and customer estimates.
  • Increase revenue by at least 20% within the first 12 months of taking the territory
  • Respond to customer inquiries and identify new customers via advertising, phone calls, visits and attendance at industry exhibitions and events.
  • Support Service dept. with marketing advice and demos.
  • Travels approximately 30-40% throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico, with overnight trips typically ranging from 2-3 days and in rare cases 2 weeks if travelling to Europe.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Must have an engineering degree in technical field (BSEE / MSEE preferred).
  • In case of exceptional industry experience, the requirement for a university degree can be waived.
  • Background or relevant coursework/experience in sales, high voltage test or metrology is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and IT applications is required.
  • Ability to write detailed quotations and reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an affinity toward group work and problem solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact and maintain smooth relationships with customers, agents and principals.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand customer specifications and bid documents.
  • The ability to work independently is required.
  • The ability to organize and plan marketing events is also required.
  • Ability to communicate in German or French or Spanish is a plus but not required.
